ABOUT  THE UNIVERSITY

                     Based on the principles of excellence, “Caring Wisdom” and equal oppournity for all, the Central University of Kerala is one of the 15 new Central Universities established under the Central Universities Act, 2009. The University aims to extend the scope of learning through a holistic methodology that accommodates diverse linguistic, scientific and cultural traditions, to fulfil the goals of social justice. The university is headquarted at Kasaragod, the northern most district of Kerala and has state-wide jurisdiction. It opened its doors in June 2009 and has grown leaps and bounds, be it in the number of students, departments and faculty or in the quality of resources available. Given the tradition of teaching excellence and research powers that the university has developed and enhanced in such a short span of time, it stands well poised to continue on its path of enviable growth and success well into the future. The Central University of Kerala currently hosts 21 Post-Graduate and Research Departments.

                      The University is proud to have Shri. Pranab Kumar Mukhrjee, His Excellency the President of India as the Honourable Visitor and Padma Bhushan (Dr.) Virender Lal Chopra, as the Honourable Chancellor. The University is now Flourishing under the vigorous leadership of Prof (Dr.) G. Gopakumar, the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, a veteran academician, eminent social scientist and an astute political analyst.
